Pull down menus

W

Wayne Burritt

Hi: I have a workbook, called "trade reviews", that contains a few macros
assigned to a custom pulldown menu. This is the current version and is
updated throughout the day. At the end of the day, it's backed-up by saving
it as "trade reviews 8-19-03". The problem is when I come in the next day
and open "trade reviews" the pulldown menus point to the macros in the
backed-up version "trade reviews 8-19-03", not the current workbook "trade
reviews". The macros themselves, however, are in the correct workbook.
It's just that each morning I have to reorient the pulldown menu -- a
hassle. Any ideas?
Thanks, Wayne

"Wayne Burritt",

I can't begin to check this out. Maybe it would help if you put the macros
in personal.xls (?)

Wayne,

Andy is correct. Any time you create a macro and want to use it in other
workbooks, place it in the personal.xls. You will find it in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart\PERSONAL.XLS for Windows 9x &
D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart\PERSONAL.XLS in Windows
2000.

If you do not find it, create the file and then save it to the location
mentioned. Then click the Widows menu and hide the book. DO NOT PUT
ANYTHING else in this book, hince the reason to hide it. When you create
any other macros, be sure to click the down arrow to select the Personal.xls
file to place it in. The file will load with every xl file you open. When
you have a macro, xl will ask you if you want to enable the macros. If you
do not click yes, your macro will not run.
