Programs sometimes failing to load at start/re-start

Ever since so much patching has had to be done, some
third-party programs fail to load in Windows XP Home
Edition at start and/or restart. Three programs that
fail are GuruNet, a download accelerator and Webshots.
Do you know what might be causing this and how it might
be corrected? Thank you for your reply.

Sylvia-

What do you mean by "fail to load"? Do they try to load and get stuck?
Or are they not loading at all? If not at all, did you check if these
programs still appear in your Startup group? If not, then the easiest
solution would be to simply copy their links into the Startup group.

If you'd rather not mess with that, then most programs include a "load
at startup" setting in their options. For example, to set GuruNet to
load at Startup, pull down the Tools menu and choose GuruNet Options.
Then make sure that "Launch GuruNet automatically at computer startup"
is checked.

If you have any other problems with GuruNet, we invite you to contact
GuruNet Customer Support at mailto:[email protected]. You may be
able to find similar assistance at Webshot and DAP, but we can't vouch
for that.

Good Luck!
