Windows XP problem with video

i turn my computer on today it loads up to the windows loading thing not windows itself but the first windows loading thing and then the computer stays on but the moniter will stop showing a picture (the button goes from green to yellow) but the computer still loads up windows and everything cause i hear msn sounds and all

any ideas on why this is doing this

It sounds like a graphics problem. Could be your monitor , the monitor cable, your graphics card overheating/failing.
