Problem with Shared Printer - Epson CX6600

Okay, I give up. Here is the situation: I have an Epson CX6600
connected via USB to one of the computers in my house. The printer
performs EXCELLENT as long as you are directly connected. The problem
is when I try to print from other computers in the house across the
network. They can see the printer just fine, they can even place jobs
in the printer queue. BUT nothing ever comes out of the printer. If I
go to the directly connected computer, it shows the jobs out there, but
nothing happens.

I thought this may be a permissions issue, but file sharing seems to
work fine and the jobs actually show up in queue. I think it may be
related to the Epson software. It tries to load some sort of printer
monitor application. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks!
Tom

I got the solution! Epson tech support gave me instructions for
disabling the Status Monitor. That was the problem:

Windows XP:

To disable ink level monitoring for your printer, do the following:

1. Go to Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes.
2. Right click on your Epson printer name, left click Printing
Preferences.
3. Go to Maintenance tab. Click SPEED AND PROGRESS button.
4. Place a check beside DISABLE EPSON STATUS MONITOR 3. Click OK, OK.

The Status Monitor option will now be disabled. To re-enable it,
reverse these directions.
