Problem installing Norton Professional

P

Paul

I have recently had a W32.Nesky virus and it seams to
have affected my windows software and disabled my norton
Professional (23.3.2004). Since then I have cleand my
machine got rid of the virus I belive but I now cannot
install the Norton Professional.
Two things are happening.
While trying to install Norton Professional I get ;_
"Error 1722 Windows Installer package program run as part
of set up did not finish as expected. Contact your
support personnel or vendor" Then it does not allow me to
go anyfurther in the installation.

When I go to microsoft to contact then I get :-
"your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page. As a result the page may not
display properly."

Do I need to do a reinstallation of the operating system
form CD?
Can I get a patch?
what happens to my PC when I do an operation ststem
reinstallation?
do I loose all my files ?
What do I need to do before I do a reinstallation to save
what is on my PC?

Does anyone know?

Please Help

PS tried Microsoft got all sorts of mumbo jumbo about my
licences not being recognised and they are wanting me to
purchase support? I either cannot fill it in right or
they are talking about a software support licence. I
thought you were covered when you bought software?
Or this ActiveX is effecting things?

Regards

Paul
