Pro SHow Gold - Freeware version of something similar?

The subject says it all..

Was discussing with a friend Pro Show Gold.
He reckons it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I told him that there would most likely be something very similar or better
with a $0.00 price tag and I'd be able to find it....

I'm having trouble keeping my word, whoops!

Anyone know of something equivalent?

Once I have the pics set up on proshow gold I have a really hard time
rearranging them. Dragging seems to be too hard. Is there a trick to this
(i.e. grab a certain corner of pic)?

I was also hoping for a freeware similar to this that would make arranging
the photos easier.

There are many freeware ways to mimic ProShowGold.
1. No transitions, no sound, but you can create a slide show:

Last freeware version of VCDEasy
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/index4.cfm

2. Transitions, and more but takes time:
SSMM - Create an avi photo show complete with transitions
http://www.joern-thiemann.de/subpage/index.htm?/tools/ssmm/index.htm
TMPGEnc - Convert above avi to a vcd ready format
http://tmpgenc.net/
Last freeware version of VCDEasy - Create a bin/cue file of TMPGEnc's
output mpg and burn it to CD.
