Printer Status Error using Vista Home Premium

M

Mike A.

When I want to print a page and click print, the screen opens where you
select number of copies, etc. In the middle left of this screen is "Status"
and immediately following status is the word "Error". I have one printer
directly connected to the computer and it is connected as the default
printer. But when I click print, nothing happens. How do I fix?

the print driver software formats the data.

Normally HP printers support PCL, if you can find a compatible Vista driver
for the device, that would be the option. If the printer only supports host
based printing (brains of the printer is in the software on the computer),
and the vendor no longer supports the product, then it's normally time for a
different printer.
