Printer Sharing in Windows Vista

Lledier

I have Three computers networked together all with Windows Vista. I have an
HP ALL-In-One installed on one of the machines. I have gone into sharing and
shared the computer. I have installed the shared printer on all three
machines. However, if I reboot one of the machines, I have to go through the
process of re-adding and resharing the computer.

Needless to say, it's very frustrating. Especially since the printer was
installed on a Windows Xp machine, and both Vista computers had no problems
finding/printing to it until we replaced the XP machine with a Vista machine.
HELP.

Is you AIO printer installed as a USB or Ethernet printer? If USB you only
need printer sharing turned on with the machine to which it is connected.
If it's Ethernet, you don't need sharing on with any machine. If it's USB
you need to install all the HP s/w on that machine, and then you can share
printing it with the other machines. They don't need all the application
and utility s/w on them. If you want to scan, all the s/w needs to be
installed on all the machines (that you want to scan from). If it's
Ethernet, all the s/w needs to be installed on all the machines, no sharing
needed on any of them.
