Preventing Windows Media Player from being default player

I just got a new computer with Win XP Home installed.

When I click on an audio link at the NPR web site, the display opens
on a Windows Media Player 10 setup screen. This happens even though I
configured Real Player to be my default media player. How can I stop
Windows Media Player from making itself my default media player?

If you have XP SP2 installed, it is real simple.
Start/Set Program Access and Defaults/click down arrow under Custom
Uncheck on the WMP line "enable access to this program">OK

Far be it from me to try and change your mind but I am extremely happy with
Windows MP version 10. In fact I tried Real Player and what with all the
error messages etc. I tossed in towel, removed it from PC and WMP is it for
me.

I'll have to agree with Dannie on this one. Real Player is for the "pits".
WMP10 is much better with lots of "bells and whistles".
