Preventing Win XP from storing recently used programs

How do I turn this feature off.
Recently used programs add themselves to windows start menu.
In the properties Ive set recently used programs to 0, clear list etc and
their still appearing.
This is a fresh install and the computer hasnt been online so its not
malicious software.

Right click the Start button | Properties | Start Menu tab | Customize
button |
General tab | Change Number of programs on Start Menu to 0 | ok | Apply | OK

You can use the Group Policy editor (Gpedit.msc) under the following
location to configure Start menu features:
User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Start Menu and
Taskbar\Remove frequent programs list from Start Menu

The registry entries are DWORD values. A value of 1 is enabled, and a value
of 0 is disabled.

Yes its the pro one, thanks for all this info, the policy editor sorted it
out;)
