Ppt 2002: In Presentation View, how to open a link to another ppt in Normal View

I have created a presentation with PowerPoint 2002 linking other files to the presentation, such as Excel, Inspiration, and other PowerPoint presentations. I want to be able to open the PowerPoint presentations in Normal View so that I can manipulate the content of the slides during the presentation. With PowerPoint 2000, I was able to right click on the link, and it gave me an option to Open in New Window; then when the linked PowerPoint opened, I could go up to Edit/Edit Slides. With Ppt 2002, when I right click on the link, my only option is Add to Favorites. The linked PowerPoint always opens in SlideShow View; if I click Esc, it comes back to my presentation slideshow; if I right-click while in the linked Ppt, I only get the Screen Options such as Pen, Next, End ... no Normal View/Edit ... nothing like that.

Hey Cindy,

Sure, you can do this. Here's the recipe:

Goto the slide you want to link from
Insert | Object... | Create From File ... | Browse
Find the file you want to edit
Ok out of the dialog box.
SlideShow | Action Settings...
Change the box under Object action to 'Edit'

In your first show, clicking on the link will open a second (edit) instance
of PowerPoint using the linked presentation. You can edit and even run the
presentation from this instance, like building another layer on top of the
first. However, if you are using a dual monitor system, the edit window
will open on primary window (by default), but can be dragged to the
secondary monitor if it is needed there.
