PPT 2000 files corrupted in PPT 2003

Having just upgraded to Office 2003, I'm finding that
several of my Powerpoint files originally created in
Office 2000 are not loading properly. In these problem
files, many of the images and drawings are corrupted
(e.g. bitmaps shifted or truncated) or missing entirely.
I've installed all the available updates to Office 2003,
but still the problem remains.

I've tried loading the files using Powerpoint 2002 (XP)
which I have installed on a laptop, and there are no
problems - the problems are only seen with Powerpoint
2003. I've even tried saving the files with PPT 2002, but
still the images are corrupted when loaded into PPT 2003.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to make the files
readable with PPT 2003?
