Powering up

J

Jim Strand

A generic question looking for generic answers.

My other computer sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't. Swapped out
the power supply with another used one. System fired right up. But
the next time I went to start, nothing. Sometimes, if the master
power strip switch has been off for awhile, the system will come right
up when the power is returned.

I'm guessing either a failing motherboard or perhaps a second faulty
power supply. What other items should I look closely at?

Is the problem with the switch in front or the actual power supply
switch in back. If it is the front one then check the 2 pin cable from
the case labeled powerswitch. Might want to check in the mobo manual
for the correct location. Otherwise try a different power supply
