Performance monitor(ing) on a remote computer

I can use performance monitor to watch counters on a remote computer in real-time, yet when I try to create a logfile from the remote computer to my PC, I am prompted with the following screen:

"The service was unable to add a counter to the log or alert. This log or alert will not be started."

I tried this on several PC and it happened every time. Again--I can add counters to monitor in realtime, but I can't generate a logfile.

Advice?

Thanks!!!

Just save the log files to the local HDD of the PC that
you want to monitor.
