PC freezes during game play

When I play graphicaly intesive games such as Colin Mcrae my PC will freeze after about 3 minutes.
What can do resolve this

Need your system specs Dave, could be one of a million things.

Changed anything recently? Is it specific to one game? ec-cet-era......

have you done all the basic such as virus, spyware, trojan, and adware scans ?

have u also done a diask defrg !

also have a look for any new windows updates and graphics cards updates - there might also be an update for the game

really need some more info m8

I know this is abit early to tell, but it sounds like a heat problem. Maybe taking the side of your case off while playing will help. I've had simulaur problems in the past exacly the same.

Windows XP Home
Version 2002
Service Pack 1
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
2.1 GHz
1.00 GB of RAM

Graphics card G FORCE FX 5200 Ultra

I have recetly downloaded the latest driver - made no diffference
I have done a disc defrag - no difference

I'm a bit of a novice so could you tell me what I need to do to check for spyware , trojans etc..

I do have a firewall installed - Norton personel firewall + Zone Alarm Pro

only thing leting that system down is the graphic card - but even that still a good card and should play fine - have you change the graphic setting in the game down to lowest?

the thing the hits me is the fact u got Norton personel firewall + Zone Alarm Pro running togeter and this could cause a problem - try turning 1 of the off the the other 1 and see if the helps !

most trjans are picked up by the virus checker - but not all
spyware can be removed bay 1 of these

I'v e update my direct driver and downloaded the altest version of directx 9c.
I've unistalled Norton anti virus and ran the spysweeper / spyware remover.
Unfortunately I've still got the same problem.
Sorry to be a pain but what elese can I try.

i've install SP" with out problem - don't think it will help ur games - but might

did you try turning 1 of ur firewalls off ?

hi wat did we do be4 computers one of my computers did the same 3wk later after defrage drivers scandisk etc i tracked it down to memory falt it put the memory in another computer it did the same on that one this might be the same on yours be carefull about static and do not force in hope this helps wen all else fails c ya
