Partitioning with Disk Management

I want to create a partition - following the guildelines in "Help and
Support", once I have opened Disk Management, I am told to:

"Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk, and then click New
Simple Volume."

I can't seem to do this anywhere, despite having 224GB free space. Options
on C drive appear to be limited to "Shrink Volume" (with Extend volume greyed
out).

I'm sure this is basic but... can anyone help?

hi if you are talking about 224 gig free on c drive then you have to
shrink c down to what ever size you want say 40 gig once you have
done that then you can create a new volume . if you want more than one
partion then just create a new one at half the available space left
and create a new one

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Laptop with Vista Home Prenium. I used with success the
Shrink utilily on my C: from a 143Gb to 78Gb. But I want it to be around
40Gb. Now, it's giving me a "available shrink size = 0" and I found comments
on the shadow file or page file that can block further shrinking.

I cant find any help on this... Do you have an idea? The PC is empty, no
data. Where can I remove this file?
Thanks!
