Answer from David Shiflet
This is a bug that will be fixed in SP2
What has happened is that some registr
keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Pain
have somehow gotten out of sync
If you open regedit to that key, you'll see variou
keys named "General-Bar0", "General-Bar1"
etc. In the "General-Summary" key, you'll se
a value called "Bars". You can fix/work aroun
this bug by setting the Bars value to the numbe
of "General-Bar#" keys you have. For example
my machine has 5 keys, numbered General-Bar
through General-Bar4, so my Bars value i
General-Summary is 5
