paint has encountered a problem and needs to close ..message

Start/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/Add Remove Windows
Components/Accessories and Utilities/Details. highlight Accessories then
Details again. Take the tick out of Paint and close out of it. Then do the
same in reverse to re-install Paint.

How can i fix this problem and will any downloading of programs fix it?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling paint.
