page numbers NOT appearing on every slide

I have an 8 slide document and slide numbers do NOT appear on slides 4 or 8.

I went to VIEW, then FOOTER and checked the Slide number box and then Apply
to All with no luck.

any thoughts?

thank you in advance, Jane

Two thoughts:

(1) The footer usually appears on the master and thus is behind anything
on the slide. I wonder if you have something on slides 4 and 8 that is
covering up the page numbers.

(2) Is it possible that you have multiple masters and those slides are
using a different master?

Select slide 4 and 8. Click Format > Background. Check if "Omit background
graphics from master" is checked. If so, uncheck it. Click Apply.

If it still doesn't work, click View > Master > Slide Master. Check if you
have more than 1 master. If so, check the master layout of all the slide
masters to ensure that slide number placeholder is there. To do so, click
Format > Master Layout.

If they're bullet sides, see if the bulleted section has a fill applied to it
that matches your background. If the bulleted section goes all the way down
to the bottom of the slide, it would cover up the page number.

Have you check to see if "Omit background graphics from master" is checked?

Following my first post, you will need to ensure that "Omit background from
master" is unchecked on slide 4 and 8. If problem still persist, feel free to
send me a copy to pptheaven[at]gmai[dot]com.

It is unchecked for all slides. I would appreciate you taking a look... it's
probably some silly thing. I do not need this for presentation until
tomorrow.

thank you!, j

Would these by chance be title slides and you have the Omit Title slides
checked under the view Header Footer?

That did it!

I wasn't the original author so this all helped for the next time.....

Thanks! j

Michael is right. Slide 4 and 8 has title layout.
Click View > Header and Footer.
Uncheck "Don't show on title slide". Click Apply to All.

As I mentioned in my email, I rarely use this application so hardly feel
fluent so very much appreciate everyone's input.
