P4PE and USB

My P4PE with 2.8 Ghz CPU has been giving me problems with USB.
I use a powered belkin USB hub and if I have more than 1 USB device plugged
into it, I get an error message saying something to the effect that there
isn't enough power.
How can this be? I've tried using a different hub, and tried plugging the
hub into different USB ports on the board. All with the same result. It
doesn't happenm on my otjher PC also with a P4PE and hub. Could this be a
BIOS upgrade issue?
Thanks

It sounds like the power adapter on the Belkin hub is not
making contact with the power plug. In a hub schematic I
was looking at a while back, a powered hub can use a diode
ORed power structure. What that means is, if the power adapter
is plugged into the hub, the hub draws power from that. If
the adapter is unplugged, the hub reverts to bus powering
(and that could give an overload message).

A much better solution is to get a PCI USB2 card that
uses a "NEC" chip. You can see pictures of USB cards on
Newegg, and use that info to figure out which brands of
card are good ones. Then shop around for the best price
or most convenient ordering. By plugging the PCI card into
the PC, you get to use that fat +5V supply you already
paid for. And you can use more than one card if you want.
