P4C800-E Onboard audio & video

Having just upgraded to the P4C800E, I'm wondering if its onboard audio and
video surpass the two PCI cards that I've been using: GeForce2 MX and
Soundblaster Live.

I know that the onboard audio has 6-channel sound, so I'm confident that it
is an upgrade to SBLive, but I'm uncertain about the video - I am a
Counter-Strike and Quake III player, so frame rates are important to me.

Thank you.

Do you really got a P4C800-E with onboard video ?
I didn't know there were such a thing. If really so it must be for AGP and
that is faster than PCI. So your GeForce2 MX PCI card are probably slower.

There is no onboard video on the P4C800E. The audio is better than a
Live IMO, since the Live is a piece of junk.

don't...

You're right, it does not. I incorrectly assumed that all late-model mobos
had onboard video.

Even if it had, the chipset graphics offered by Intel or SiS are
INCREDIBLY slow. Definitely not usable for gaming purposes. I'd even go
as far as to say that your PCI GeForce2MX probably is faster than those
onboard graphics.

There's an article on Tom's Hardware about integrated graphics with some
benchmarks in it:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030903/index.html

From the article:

"If you're planning on using your computer as a gaming station as well
as a workstation, your best bet is to stay away from integrated
graphics. The performance of Intel's i865G Extreme Graphics was nowhere
near convincing in a gaming environment, making us wonder what exactly
the self-serving "extreme" adjective described. Extremely slow, maybe?

The SIS315/Real256 was slower still. Besides, this chip suffered from
driver problems with Serious Sam, even though it has been on the market
for a long time. NVIDIA's nForce 2, however, may be a viable option for
a game now and then, as long it is of an older vintage. However, new
games are off-limits even for the nForce 2, because it's too slow. The
same goes for image quality enhancing features, such as FSAA and
anisotropic filtering. "

I'm running a P4 1.6A that I had onhand from a prior upgrade. Anyone running
the Celeron 2.8GHz? I would expect to get a nice boost in performance for
around $127.
