Outlook - Unable to view embedded pictures in HTML docs.

Good Evening All,

This is abit of a tricky one. I think it's more related to an Outlook
problem but it could well be a Front Page problem.

I create a html file in front page, insert a few pics and save it locally. I
can open the file okay in IE. However, when I go to Outlook, create a new
message and attach the html file my problem begins. When I open the html
file, even before I send the message, I can see all the data but I get the
dreaded red X in the place of the picture.

I am using Front Page 2002 and Outlook 2003 and all supporting file are local.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

what type of pics are you working with? (e.g. animated gifs, jpgs, pngs,
..etc) the reason that i ask is that i have seen animated gifs stop showing
due last security update that fixes how WMF files are handled.

Thanks mate,

GIFS and JPEGS. Can you please provide a reference number on the security
update you are talking about?

Thanks and regards.

Thanks again.

This patch has been installed. Do you know if there's anyway we can regain
functionality after installing this patch?

Thanks and regards.

My site has had to rebuild some of our animated gifs, but otherwise I don't
know of a workaround after installing the update.

Good Afternoon All,

Is there anyone out there that has come across this problem or can suggest
where I could refer this problem too. It is causing major issues at my
workplace.

BTW the problem isn't only affecting gifs, it affects all pics and appears
to only have raised its ugly head since the installation of KB912919.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

I don't know what KB912919 is, but I'm running into the same problem.
Just a few days ago my Outlook 2003 stopped showing pictures. It's not
that the "show pictures" thinggy is turned off... because it's on. I
don't get a red X that says "Outlook is not showing this picture,
please right click to show it" but rather a red X that has the embeded
text of the picture show up (you know, the mouseover stuff) but not the
picture itself. This is getting VERY annoying as I can't read my
newsletters, e-mails from friends with embeded pictures, or anything.
