OUtlook sends .dat files

I use Microsoft Outlook to rec and send mails.
the .doc ( word file attachments) i send are received by
the other person as .dat files and hence not readable.
i waste time sending them again.
pl advice.

Change your message format to plain text or html and consider disabling
Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor.
