Outlook is unable to locate the outgoing SMTP server...?

I'm having this message appear when sending emails:

Task 'pop.mail.yahoo.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail
server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Can you do an "nslookup pop.mail.yahoo.com" to make sure your DNS server
has an IP address lookup for that IP name? Why are you using a POP
server for outbound e-mail that would need to use an SMTP server?

Do you have a paid account with Yahoo (since this looks to be the
USA-based Yahoo domain which requires paid accounts to access their POP3
and SMTP servers)?

Do they use POP.mail.yahoo.com for their SMTP server, too (i.e., the
same IP name is used for both the POP3 and SMTP servers)? Or perhaps
are you supposed to use SMTP.mail.yahoo.com? Sure looks like you didn't
bother to check Yahoo's own help on how to configure your e-mail client
for their mail servers; see
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-06.html.
