Outlook Express on Windows XP Home: cannot send e-mail larger than 1K

I'm having problems sending e-mail that is larger than approximately 1K
(that's right, K) from Outlook Express (on Windows XP Home Edition) over a
DSL connection.

The e-mail is simple text - i.e. no attachments.

On the same DSL connection I have no problems browsing the Net, downloading,
using telnet or receiving
e-mail.

I've tried disabling the firewall on the connection and rebooting, to no
avail.

The error message I get is:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes
for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'x', Account: 'x', Server: 'x', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error number: 0x800CCC0F"

Any ideas?

Thanks,
TW

Have you gone to Tools | Accounts and verified that your outgoing mail
server (SMTP) has the correct information? :)

Thanks, but I had no virus-checker running.

Resetting my TCP/IP stack did the trick. I ran the netsh utility from the
command-line:

netsh int ip reset c:\tcpipreset.txt

and I can now send large e-mail messages successfully.

Cheers,
Todd
