Outlook Express folders do not highlight after new messages arrive

Hi!

I suddenly have a situation where I clearly see messages being downloaded
using Outlook Express, but while the message itself is shown in bold print as
it arrives in the folder, the folder name (to the left of the messages, if
you follow my drift) does not become bold, showing new messages.

I physically have to open each sub folder in my inbox (message rules cause
certain messages to go to different sub folders) to see where new messages
haev gone to.

What may I do to rectify this?

I use WinXP professional, OE6.

Create a new Identity and import the mail from the old Identity.
If you only have a few message rules, create them again.
If you have several rules, let me know and I will describe how to move the
rules.

Hi Ron!

How will that make any message that is downloaded cause the folder into
which it is downloaded become highlighted?

It is not so much about message rules as it is about the folder not showing
that "new" messages are in it. Even the standard "Inbox" folder is not
highlighted when messages arrive that do not go to specific folders.

Just again: Why, and how, will creating a new Identity help in this regard?
