Is anyone out there who can help solve a mystery?
Here's the problem:
"When I got into the office, the server had crashed, so we
were incommunicado for the entire morning.
Now we're back up, and I went to send out a message (in
Outlook 2002, with a POP3 email connection) using 4
distribution lists, and a few attachments.
The problem - some of the people who received it got up to
7 copies of the e-mail!!! Now, I checked the distribution
lists, thinking that maybe their names were duplicated,
but nope.
This was a big e-mail, size-wise. And, to top it all off,
I kept on getting e-mails from sender MissLN/ITL%
(e-mail address removed) with incident information!! It
had "report to sender" in the subject line, and listed all
the individuals' e-mails on the distro lists.
WHAT HAPPENED?!?! I'm getting angry calls form members
who just had their inboxes clogged with 5 copies of the
same message!!!!
HELP!!!"
More background information:
I'm helping a client who is upgrading from Calypso to
Outlook 2002. They are a small company of five people and
are NOT using Outlook's Exchange Server. Instead they use
internet email through uu.net and earthlink.
They also have an Access database that centrally stores a
list of all their members' contact information, including
email addresses. We imported these contacts into the
Executive Assistant's Outlook Contacts folder. After
importing, she created distribution lists. I have no idea
why her email sent duplicates to the recipients or why she
got incident reports. Does anyone have any ideas of where
I should start or how I can troubleshoot this problem? I
appreciate ANY help!
