Craig

I get this message when trying to connect to Hotmail:
Task 'Hotmail' reported error (0x8004102A) : 'Error with Send/Receive.
There was an error synchronizing your folder hierarchy. Error : 80041004.'.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dr Paul

I had this problem & searched all the forums for ages.
As of June 2013, these are the facts:
1. The Hotmail connector is working
2. This error is nothing to size of the files - nonsense.
3. Nothing to do Outlook itself - I'm using office 2003.
4. Nothing to do with ant-virus/firewall
5. Basically, I discovered that I needed to tick some boxes in the Add-In Manager of Outlook:
Go to Tools / Options / Other / Advanced options / Add-In Manager. I ticked"Mapisensor, PAV & Exchange Extensions property pages" and hey presto, it started to sync and is working fine now. I've not seen this solution anywhere on the forums, hence this post. Hope it helps someone because the Hotmail website is SO clunky.

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM ERROR 80041004.

After almost all day researching this, I found solutions in two sites that must work together:

1) Close Microsoft Outlook.

1) In IE, goto Options, goto Advanced, scroll down to Security Section, UNCHECK "check for server certificate revocation". Click Okay. Exit IE.

2) On desktop, goto START, Run, type %localappdata%\Microsoft\outlook.

Here you will find some files with extension *.OST . These contain cached information of your mailbox.

Copy them to another temporary directory, so you know you have a copy.

Now delete the OST files you found in the directory "%localappdata%\Microsoft\outlook"

You can minimize this window.

3) Now load up Microsoft Outlook and depending on how many email you had, it will take from a few seconds to several minutes to refresh all the emailsyou had.

4) If all went well, your task bar should not show up any errors indications.

5) Now you can safely delete the OST copies you moved to the temporary directory.
