Outlook 2007, cannot send emails,receive error (0x8000CCC1A)

Kremilias

Outlook 2007, Vista Ultimate,ESET NOd32 Antvirus, SSd drive and regular hard
drive.
I could send and receive without a problem using Outlook 2007. Suddenly I
cannot send ( error 0x8000CCC1A ) appears asking to change encryption method,
or contact ISP. The ISP said that it is not their problem...I should
uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Office 2007. I did that, it worked for
a few days and again the same problem.
Run Repair Microsoft Office, but didn't correct the problem.
Will highly appreciate your help and suggestions.
Thank you

What is the exact error message that you get?
Have you verified that you have configured the correct encryption and port
settings?

If you are using the email virus scanner integration of NOD32,
disable/uninstall this integration and try again.

"Roady" thank you so much for your effort to help.
The message I get is:
Sending error (0x800CCC1A).Your server does not support the connection
encryption type you have specified.Try changing the encryption method.Contact
your mail server administrator or Internet Service Provider ( ISP).
How can I configure the correct encryption??
I have disabled the virus scanner...but didn't make any difference.

"Roady" thanks to your suggestion, I compared the settings I have on my new
Laptop with the ones on the old one. In Tools>Account Settings>...my
account>Change>More Settings>Advanced....I cliked on USE DEFAULTS which
changed the number in the box next to Incoming server (POP3).
Went back to Internet E-mail settings and UNCHECKED the "box" Log on using
Secure Password Authentication (SPA). Restarted the computer and now I can
sent normally as before.
I was hoping that these changes would also solve my other problem with
Outlook 2007, ( there is a separate posted message ) which is related to the
CALENDAR .
I can't open it.
Every time I try to go from MAIL to CALENDAR the programme stops responding
and crashes. I have no problem to go from MAIL to CONTACT or TASKS.
Even when I go from CONTACTS or TASKS to CALENDAR I get the same problem.
Any idea about this?
Once more thank you for your great help.

You're welcome! :)

As for the Calendar issue, I would start with running scanpst.exe against
your pst-file to check it for errors;
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/77

If that doesn't work, start Outlook in Safe Mode;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

If it is an issue with with your view settings, you can reset your views
via;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanviews

Let us know your results!

Dear Robert,
I run SCANPST.EXE against my pst-files. A couple of files were dedected and
instructed to be repaired.
Also tried the OUTLOOK.EXE / SAFE and OUTLOOK.EXE /CLEANVIEWS .
Restarted the computer, but I still have the same problem.
I feel terrible for taking so much of your time. Once more I appreciate your
effort to help.

I feel terrible for taking so much of your time.
Don't be; I'm here by my own choice so I'm free to leave as well ;-)

Outlook hang as well when starting in Safe Mode?
What's logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

First try running scanpst.exe over and over again against your pst-file
until it finishes its run without finding any error. This can sometimes take
3 runs or even more.

If that doesn't help, luckily there are a few more switches you can try in
this case;

/resetfolders
This will recreate/reset any missing or broken default folder in Outlook
like a Calendar folder

/cleanreminders
This will regenerate the reminders for your mail profile

If all else fails, you can try it with a new pst-file;
File-> New-> Outlook Data File...
and set it as the default in;
File-> Data File Management...

If it works now, you can copy your data from the broken pst-file to the new
one.
After that, disconnect the broken pst-file and then you can delete it if you
want.

Dear Robert,
GREAT NEWS.....EVERYTHING WORKS !!!
I tried the SCANPST but no errors were detected,then tried /resetfolders
also/cleanreminders , without any success.
Finally I tried a new PST file, changed the default...and WORKED.
Then I deleted one of the folders and now I have two folders in my
DataFileManagement :
Archive folders in C:\Users\.... and My Personal Folders in D:\My
Documents|Outlook....( DEFAULT)
What I want to do now is to move the Archive folder from my C:\ drive to D:\
drive,
because I keep all my programs in C:\ ( this is a Flash SSD drive ) and all
my Data in D:\ ( which is a regular drive). Is this possible ?
I have no words to thank you for your GREAT help. Let me tell you that I
have been battling with this problem for over 2 months now and I was at the
stage of getting rid of the OUTLOOK and start using Yahoo or something else.
You can't imagine how happy I am now that my Outlook which I have been using
for many years works again.
By the way I am in Greece....I don't know where you are but again thank you.

Hi Ilias,

Good to hear. The last hurdle is luckily an easy one;
Move the pst-file while Outlook is closed, when you open Outlook it will nag
for the folder location of the pst-file. Point Outlook to the new location
and you should be done.

I'm a Dutch guy living in Germany working in English and again; you're
welcome! :)

I have an HP laptop with Vista as the operating system. Last Tuesday (2/17)
I left my pc on when I went for lunch. When I came back it was at the normal
start-up screen. It had been rebooted while I was gone. I think there was
an update installed.
I am running MS Outlook 2003. I can send messages with no problem, but when
I try to receive a message I get the following message:

Task 'Freds Email - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your incoming
(POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to
receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service
provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR problem retrieving message.'

I have contacted my ISP (ATT) and we have gone over all of the settings. I
have deleted and added accounts filling in all the boxes with the appropriate
data and still get the error message.

Can someone help me? I am willing to re-install Outlook but don't want to
lose all my files.

Again thank you....
Moved my pst-files as you suggested...and redirected Outlook to the new
location.
You have been great help.
Is there any way we could exchange ( safely ) our emails ?
Best regards

Fredq,
I was getting a different message to yours ( see above ) and my Outlook is

Perhaps Roady could help you. Why don't you try his notes on Configuring
Microsoft Oulook 2003 also

Sorry, I had been on a business trip for the last 2 weeks and digging up
