Hello,
I have installed Ms office professional edition 2003. Means both word and
outlook are same versions.
Uptill last week my outlook worked perfectly fine as an Word editor for
composing or replying email.
Since last week suddenly I got this error msgs that Outlook
"Ms Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not
installed , or is not the same version as outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor
will be used instead."

I have tried everything. Uninstalling office and re-installing from Fresh.
Installing and updating. I have tried to replyir complete office 2003.

Please advise If I am missing something. I have to use outlook 2003 as word
email editor.

Will apprecaite your response at (e-mail address removed)
thanks

I have exactly the same problem. Up until about a week ago. I have done
everything in article 906307 with no luck. If you find out something let me
know.

After I sent the message, I went back & dug a little deeper. The answer and
the cure is:
Click Start>Run and enter
regsvr32 ole32.dll

Works like a charm.

I am having the same problem. It seems to have started on either 04/16 or
04/17 after downloading and installing Microsoft updates. I have tried all
of the suggestions in this thread to no avail.

When I go into System Info, it tells me that I have Word Application
Failures beginning on one of the dates above.

I really need to get this resolved as it keeps locking up my computer and
closing out programs due to these errors and changing my email editor. Here
are the versions/builds of Outlook 2003 (11.8010.6568 - SP2) and Word 2003
(11.6568.6568 - SP2) and using Office Professional Edition 2003.

Please help!!!

Thanks,
LDM

Hello,

This is an old post i'm sure, but i have come across it very often. it happened to me as well, but after tinkering and searcing i have found a fix that does not require the "regsvr32 ole32.dll" run nor a help -> detect and repair. The fix has to do with your Templates.

You will need to create a new template in word and lable it as Normal2.dot (*.dot TEMPLATE, not Word Document). save it in the hidden file labled:

C:\"UserName"\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

You will see a few in there like "formltr.dot" and "closemsg.dot" and "Normal.dot"

The Normal.dot file is what your template is set to generally in Outlook, this file is for some reason not pulling when outlook starts, but it is pulling for part of its functions such as to read Rich Text e-mail messages... so you will most likely not be able to overwrite it (which you probably dont want to anyways).

When you do get a 'new message' to pop up with the new form, you will want to go to Tools -> Templates and add-ins -> Click "Attach" -> Select File, then go to Global Templates and add-ins (Below) -> click Add, select the same template -> click ok to save, exit outlook and walla, there is your blank template.

so anyhow, give it a try, then go to Microsoft Outlook, Tools -> Options -> Mail Format Tab, and check the box that says "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages (and to read Rich Text e-mail messages as well if this is unchecked). hope it works, if not, then a file was deleted from your templates that you need, email me if you need it and i can send you mine, or you can search for it online. I only signed up on this forum to answer this question specifcally, i will not monitor responses, so if you need help email me (anyone may in future as well).

Good Luck.
