Outlook 2003 Shortcuts do not change Color/Show New Items

J

John Brown

I am trying to get back the functionality lost when
upgrading to Outlook 2003. I used to put shortcuts to
public folders in the Outlook bar. When a new post
happened, the shortcut would bold and have the amount of
new posts in (). The new shortcut pane in Outlook 2003
does not do the same thing, they never change color or
show the amount of new posts. If I put the shortcut in
the Public Folder shortcuts, it has the functionality I
want, but I have to scroll down to see it. Before I
could see both my mail folders and important public
folders all on the same screen without scrolling. Is
there any way to get this functionality back?

TIA
JB

Could you be a little more specific? I am assuming you mean the navigation pane. But I can't see both my public folder favorites and my regular mail folders (inbox) on the same screen without having to hit a button at the bottom right

Thanks for your help!!

I found out that if you create a shortcut from a public folder that is in your public folder favorites (not off the All Public Folder List), then the functionality is there. It shows the number of unread messages as well as being bold just like it did in the Outlook bar. Thanks for your help
