Outlook 2003 opens and then closes immediately

I didm a backup of my .pst file yesterday.
this morning, when I started Outlook, it seemed OK, but then closed in about
2 seconds.
so I uninstalled Office Standard 2003 completely and reinstalled Office 2003
completely. Word and Excel and PP are OK, but still I cannot get Outlook to
run.
it starts and then closes. It does not hang or crash WinXP. It just will
not stay open. help! please! I need my email and calendar!
