In OL 2003 New e-mail notify lasts only 30 secs max and then disappears.
How can I do to make the notification last for a longer period?

By default, it will only last 30 seconds. However, you can create a rule to
give you a desktop pop-up that persists until you dismiss it. You can make
this a generic rule so that any mail that you receive (including spam) will
generate the window.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal

I can't get any notification in 2003 (sound or visual), and nobody seems to
be able to provide a solution; can't find anything in the Microsoft
knowledge base either. I never had a problem with Outlook 97, 98 or 2000,
but as soon as I upgraded to 2003 all notifications ceased. As an MVP,
maybe you can help. Thanks.

The sound can be configured in Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. On
the Sounds tab, look for the entry for New Mail Notification and pick a
sound. Then, in Outlook, click on the Tools menu item, Options, Preferences
tab, Email Options, Advanced Email Options button. You can select to receive
a visual and a sound notification (the one you just picked in the Sounds
option).

Did all that and still no notification on initial sign-on. Interesting
twist noted today; if I get mail while already online, both sound and visual
notification work. I'm afraid it doesn't make any sense to me that neither
notification works with the initial receipt of mail when I first sign-on to
my ISP, but they both work with the subsequent receipt of mail while online.
Any ideas?
