Outlook 2002-Incoming emails lose bold face

Has anyone had experience with this. On my E1505 dell laptop, my incoming
emails lose the boldface of the subject line when they are moved from the
Inbox to one of two folders (for my two email accounts). I have been told
this could be a corrupt data file? Everything else works fine. I thought it
was in automatic formatting under colors, but the rules set there are the
same as my desktop, which doesn't have a problem. (I had been changing the
colors and figured it was due to that).

This happens most of the time, but not always. Any suggestions?

Is the envelope icon changing from a closed envelope to an open one? How
are they being moved?

Good question. Yes, it is changing to an open envelope. They are moved by a
rule from the rules wizard. It worked fine for a long time. The only thing
I can coorelate with this is when I tried changing some colors. I thought I
had a work around this afternoon by not using automatic formatting and
telling Outlook that unread messages should be black and bold faced. It
seems to work for all of the messages except the one on the top of the list.
That could be coincidental. I'll monitor it. Roady told me to delete
autmatic formatting, so I'm going to try that, although I'm not using it now
anyhow and still have a problem. Why did you ask about the envelope? It
appears as though the message has b een read when it hasn't.

This behavior is usually caused by an add-in. Blackberry software will do
it, for example.

Do you think Microsoft Active Sync could do it? I'm not using my PDA with
this computer, so I could uninstall it if that could possibly fix it. I
haven't uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook because I figure the error is in
the pst file which I will need to import back into the new installation.

I use ActiveSync extensively and it never does that for me.

It certainly can't hurt.

FIrst, uninstalling and reinstalling rarely help problems like this.
However, there's no reason not to try Help>Detect and Repair. Also,
importing from a PST is never the way to add data back into Outlook.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook will not affect your existing PST in
any way. IN fact, it won't affect your existing mail profile with all your
account information, either.
