Outlook 2002 and Spam Killer

I know this sounds like a "duh" question compared to others I have seen on here--but here goes--
I have installed Mcafee Spam Killer on my system (Windows XP Home with Office XP added later)-

I am getting emails Ok and I think I understand the Spam Killer product except--where is the circl
with the slash (like on the traffic signs) that Mcafee says you should click if a message gets throug
that you want to identify as spam. I understand how to rescue a message from the Mcafee security Center
but I can't seem to figure out how to do the reverse and banquish one to Spam hell

Thanks.

I have never used Spamkiller, but does it install a toolbar? If you don't
see one, maybe you can look in view | toolbars and see if there's one there
that isn't selected.

Other than that, I'd check with Mcafee support.

Thanks--I didn't see anything is toolbars, so I contacted Mcafee support. After a lot of checking, they told me the tool bar would be visible only in MAPI mail--whatever that is--and not in POP3.

Glad it's resolved - MAPI would be used if you connected to an Exchange
server.

That makes no sense at all... it sounds more like they have no clue and they
hope to confuse you with technical terms so you'll go away. <lol>

I think they mean Corporate mode = MAPI mail and Internet mode = POP3.
Except OL2002 (and 2003) only have one mode so you should see the toolbar.

Close Outlook. Find and rename the outcmd.dat file and restart outlook. Oh,
and delete extend.dat. Look in C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook for the
files.

Hey, that even works on me sometimes! :)

Hadn't thought of that (another mark in Diane's side of the scoreboard)

Damn--I wish I had you on the internet chat when I was chatting with the "customer no-service" person at Mcafee. You are right, I did go away! My problem is that I don't know enough to understand what I don't know.....!

Thanks for the additional information--I'll try your suggestion and report back.

I have no idea what spam killer is supposed to offer in terms of
features, but I've used Spam Bayes in my org with a lot of success.
It's free and after a few days of trainign, my false positives are
nearly zero (and I get a boatload of spam).

http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/windows.html

Course, support is community based... but so far I've not had any
reason to look for support using it.

Spam Killer is Mcafee's spam product---integrated into their other utilities as an add on.

I tried renaming and deling the files suggested, but still no luck. I uninstalled ans reinstalle
the mcafee products also, but to no avail

Maybe I should go away now...!.....lo
