I bought a used computer, only to find out later that it
has 2 (two) seperate windows 2000 professional
installations on the hard drive. One of them seems to work
just fine, however the 2nd is riddled with problems for
example: slow start ups, freezes, etc. My question is, how
do I get rid of (delete) the 2nd installation w/o damaging
my hard drive?

Open a CMD prompt in the good install,
Type attrib -r -s -h c:\boot.ini
open c:\boot.ini in notepad and remove the entrty for the bad install.
Save the file.

Delete the folder of the bad install.
