Opening "my computer"

When clicking on the "my computer" icon or accessing it
from any other location it takes several minutes to open
showing all my drives and etc. I can find no information
on how to correct this.

Here is an update. I found a fix for this problem (for

my situation at least. It had to do with my HP Scanner.
You can find the solution @ Knowledge Base Article -
819017. It worked for me.

Hi Larry,

When you click Start and then click My Computer, or when you double-click My Computer on your Windows desktop, Windows may search (a flashlight may appear) for a long time (for example, 5 minutes) before files appear.

Disable the Windows Image Acquisition service.

I just added a dvd drive and my computer began the same
thing. If i find an answer I will return.
