I would like to know if there is away to set the view in the open file
dialog box so it is always set to icon view? I can manually set it but when
I re-open the file the file open dialog box it defaults back to list.
Thanks

No. The CommonDialog File Open/SaveAs dialog cannot be customized. This is a limitation in Windows XP.
