Tekheads poped up a while ago, without anyone really noticing them, since they opened they have expanded their produt range and ventured into the more interesting markets of high performance hardware and overclocking, this has left them as one of the only shops on the internet that dont specalise in overclocking or silent running, whilst offering products that are of interest to overclockers, and silence mad enthusiasts.

I have only every used tekheads once, but the service I got was fantastic, and I was very satisfied all round.

Beware of Tekheads - they're very bad news

I've heard very good things about the old Tekheads but the new one is a disgrace. A friend of mine bought a defective barebones system from them. They refused to refund his money on the grounds that the website had changed hands and just sent it off to get (badly) repaired ... twice. Long delays - no customer support.

The firm that owns Tekheads now is called JLT Computers - but they don't put the trading information on the website that is legally required and imply that they have been trading continuously since 2001 when this lot only took over in 2005.

This is the kind of thing that gets internet trading a bad name. My friend has now asked Trading Standards to look into them.

Be very warned!

I can't find a new thread for tekheads and cannot start one myself for some reason, so I will add comments here.

I recently bought from tekheads despite the dire warning from John.
Contrary to his experience, I was very very impressed from start to finish. My order for the various bits and bobs for a PC I was going to build was processed quickly as soon as my bank had corrected the mistake they (my bank) made and dispatched. Everything arrived in good nick, but I had to return some RAM as I had inadvertently ordered the wrong type when my original choice was out of stock. This was dispatched and I recieved it the next day at 9AM! I built my PC and got it running, no problems with any of the bits.
Then a couple of days later I discovered my surge protector (which I've had for years) wasnt and didnt. The PSU blew and I had to return it; tekheads didn't even argue, just replaced the PSU, which I recieved quickly as well. Now everything is sorted; I have a very good system and a big smile on my face. I recommend Tekheads.

Can't seem to post a thread on the "new" Tekheads, so here goes on the old Tekheads thread.

Their product range, delivery and pricing are superb.

Their customer service, knowledge of product and e-mail manners are extremely poor (chippy would be a better word re the e-mails) if my experience is typical.

If your hard drive fails, you need to get data recovery on the case and Tekheads say that it will void the warranty, remember they are talking rubbish.

Ignore them, contact the manufacturer direct and the manufacturer will point you towards an approved recovery specialist. In my case, I even got a 10% discount.

The lack of knowledge of Tekheads was annoying. The computer says no attitude with a side order of belligerence was infuriating.

So thank you Tekheads for nothing and thank you Samsung and Kroll recovery for having simply, effective and friendly customer service people and systems.
