OL2K can I slow the send...?

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I run OL2000. In the past, I used to dial up and if I sent a message,
it went to the outbox until the next (scheduled, or manual) send &
receive command.

Now that I have broadband, the sent message leaves the outbox
immediately.

Is there a way to get it to stick around until the next send command?

Thanks,

M

Disable the "send immediately when connected" option.

Hi Milly,

I have looked through the help file with care, but cannot locate that
option. I am in OL2K. Can you assist?

Sincere thanks,

What mode is Outlook 2000 using? Check Help->About... second line should
say either Internet Mail Only or Corporate or Workgroup.

Howdy,

I gotta ask... What is the "grin" about?

There are two modes: "Internet Only" or "Corporate or Workgroup." I
run the latter.

I assume that I am missing something here. Can you illuminate?

Thanks,

misprinted reply..sorry

Hello again,

By any chance can you assist with the substance of the problem? There
is apparently a setting the causes messages to be sent immediately, or
held for the next manual send. Might you know where it is in OL 2000?

Sincere thanks,

In the top task bar go to:

Tools>options>mail Delivery Tab. Where it says "mail account options" make
sure "send messages immediately when connected" is Un-checked. if it already
is I can't help you further. good luck.

Hello again,

I am in OL2000 and there is no such Mail Delivery tab.

Do you have any idea where the "send immediately" setting might be in
my version?

Sincere thanks,

I am running outlook 2000 as well, it is there on mine. Tools>Options>Mail
Delivery

Howdy,

Are you running "Internet Only" or "Corporate or Workgroup?"

I am running the latter, and that may be the hitch.

When I look at Tools | Options the tabs are Preferences, Mail
Services, Mail Format, Spelling, Security, Other, and Internet E-Mail.

None of 'em (as far as I can tell) has the setting I am looking for.

Thanks again,

This may be something handled by your mail server, then. The heading of the
controls is "mail account options", if that will be of service in help.

A thought, though:

What If, perchance, when you finished composing messages, you chose to save
them instead of sending them to outbox. you could then send your messages at
will...

what happens when you 'file>send later?'

Hello again,

I feel like I am losing my few remaining marbles...

I have no such option.

I am not on Exchange Server BTW.

This hassle started when I switched from dialup, to broadband about a
week ago. Prior to that switch (and other than specifying the new
server I made no changes to OL) a sent message stayed in the Outbox
until the next send. Now, I click the send button, the message goes to
the Outbox, then ---> Pffft ---> and it's gone.

Thanks again,
