OL2000: BUG: Outlook composes message in Rich text format when the "mailto" link contains the "body"

=?iso-8859-2?Q?Ivan_B=FAtora?=

Example:

mailto:[email protected]?subject=hi - opens a new message in plain text or HTML text, based on the default setting

mailto:[email protected]?subject=hi&body=test - opens a new message in Rich text. User then has to manually change to plain text.

How can I submit this bug to Microsoft?

Thanks,

Ivan

I just tried it and there was no difference. Both URLs created plain text
messages for me.

I should have said, of course, that I'm usling Outlook 2003, so it's
apparent that Microsoft has fixed the "bug".

OK, do you know how I can submit the bug to Microsoft? I browsed through the Outlook 2000 support center, but there seems to be no way to submit anything. I guess I'll have to give them a call?

It would surprise me if Microsoft intends to invest any money into
addressing problems in Outlook 2000 at this point. Both Outlook 2002 and
2003 are available and each address some of your issues. If you want
increased functionality, you should upgrade.

Frist of all, this particular issue is not a matter of "increased functionality", as you put it, but it is simply a bug that should be fixed. Secondly, Outlook 2000 is still in an extended support phase, and Microsoft should have caught these quirks already a long time ago. Since that hasn't happened, MS still has the opportunity to fix things in SP-4. Thirdly, Outlook 2002 is in some ways worse than 2000, because it breaks the quoted-printable encoding and wrapping, and doesn't have any other features I would benefit from. Outlook 2003 is somewhat of an improvement, but doesn't run on Windows 98...

Sorry, but calling something like this "functionality" is a joke. Outlook is supposed to be a flagship e-mail client, and shouldn't suffer from small, but annoying and basic issues.

Be that as it may, there's about as much chance of Microsoft fixing it as
there is of you or me breathing vacuum.
