Office 2007 Pro and the Installation of BCM

I uninstalled the beta of office 2007. I was only running Outlook Beta, not
BCM. The installation of the full version of office 2007 went fine and all
the programs work normally. I then decided to install BCM from disc two.
The installation failed completely.

The first part of the installation trys to install SQL express 5.0 I
already had this installed on my system.

Please try to uninstall existing instance of SQL Express and try BCM again.
It's possible that you might not have latest version of SQL Express
installed. Please make sure that you have SQL Express SP1. You can also try
uninstalling SQL Express and BCM will install again.

Hi - if I can join in
I am trying to install Outlook2007 with BCM and I get to the point of SQL5
Express install and I get a message saying that the installation cannot
continue -
The error string said: The SQL Server service failed to start
i have found a KB article - 920114 but this refers to a folder 'protect' -
which i dont have within the installation.
Can anyone help please- thanks

Hi,

I followed you advice and uninstalled SQL completely, rebooted and then ran
disc 2 of Office 2007 with BCM. I received the exact same error about 3/4 of
the way through intstalling SQL. Here is the error message.

Did you uninstall all the compnents of SQL Express.
Usually SQL Express has following components installed (if you see in
add/remove program)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files
Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer

It's possible that you might not have latest version of SQL Express
installed. Please make sure that you have SQL Express SP1. You can also

uninstalling SQL Express and BCM will install again.

Yes, I cleared it out completely, doubled check the in the Services, to make
sure there was no sign of it anywhere, rebooted the pc, check it again. Is
there any more info I can give you to help the process?

Clinton Ford [MSFT]

Could you check the Windows Event Log for any error messages around this
same date/time? Just click "Start | Run" then type eventvwr and click "OK".
Now review the Application and System folders for events near that time. If
you find one, open it and click the copy button, then paste the error into
the Newsgroup.

Hi,

I followed you advice and uninstalled SQL completely, rebooted and then
ran
disc 2 of Office 2007 with BCM. I received the exact same error about
3/4
of
the way through intstalling SQL. Here is the error message.

Please try to uninstall existing instance of SQL Express and try BCM
again.
It's possible that you might not have latest version of SQL Express
installed. Please make sure that you have SQL Express SP1. You can
also
try
uninstalling SQL Express and BCM will install again.

I uninstalled the beta of office 2007. I was only running Outlook
Beta,
not
BCM. The installation of the full version of office 2007 went fine
and
all
the programs work normally. I then decided to install BCM from disc
two.
The installation failed completely.

The first part of the installation trys to install SQL express 5.0
I
already had this installed on my system.
