NVIDIA tray error message: FxManager error/Driver installation

Hi
I want to update the Graphics driver to eliminate the subject error. Is it
necessary to update the Platform / nForce drivers as well?
Is it necessary to remove the current drivers before installing the update
and if so what is the process for doing so?
This question is purely academic: why is it not necessary to remove the old
drivers when one uses the driver update provision in Device Manager? Thanks
for your help.
