I am getting this error message when I try to access my registry under: Start
Run > regedit

The the title bar of the error message box that says 6 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

I don't even know where to start to look for the issue..

Any Ideas?

Thanks ,

Brook,

Well, I tried but I just thought you'd find this interesting. I came up with
absolutely nothing of any real value but perhaps something to make you give
a wry smile?

The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.... :

I did have a good deal of fun searching. Have you checked for malware? Well,
that's probably not the case really... Hmm...

I know this is for XP specifically but you could try it (change the paths
etc) if you would like. It seems that XP is also subjected to the NTVDM CPU
errors and this is the fix according to the results from Google and that the
problem lies with the autoexec.nt file, or so the repairs seem to say...

Error message when you start a DOS or 16 bit Program:

(Specifically the autoexec.nt file is perhaps corrupt?)

I don't suppose it could hurt anything. You might want to wait until someone
else wanders in and says this is either the solution or not but you can try
it without fear of breaking anything.
