Notepad closes unexpectedly while browser is open

When I have a Notepad file open, and I'm browsing the Internet (IE
6)simultaneously, the text file closes unexpectedly, even if I'm in
the midst of working in the text file (pasting text, etc.). I've only
noticed this with Notepad (I have not tried Wordpad). I have to save
any changes to the text file immediately, because it will close before
my very eyes. I've only noticed this problem when the browser is
open. This is a new problem, and I have not installed any new
software since before the problem has started. Just to provide more
information: I've used the Google toolbar for awhile, and it is
blocking most pop-ups, but lately it is letting through quite a lot of
them. I've disengaged Messenger Service, but that has not helped. I
scan regularly with Ad-aware. What could be happening? Here are my

If you use MS Notepad a lot, I suggest you try this one that I use.
