Not Filter - Not Working

I've set my mail message rule to:

Where the to line does not contain <my name/email adress/group messages I
want to accept> and where the message has an attachement, delete from
server.

But it's not working, all the SWEN craps still coming through about thirty
every hour. What have I done wrong? I suppose it's glaringly obvious, but
not to me. Thanks.

I can't help specifically with Outlook Express because I've never used
it but can confirm you have got the basic idea correct. The method I
use does not consider attachments but the total message size. It must
be plain text, less than 20KB and addressed to me or one of my lists.
SWEN and most other message that I don't want get left on the server.
I just delete them.

Is it possible your virus protector is deleting the attachment before the
rule is enforced? Then I could see that the AND would fail. Why dont you
try removing the attachment filter and just filter based on your name/email?

Set your filters for the first word in the subject line. Set them to
delete any messages that contain that first word in each subject line.
You should enter the first word exactly as it appears in the message.
Example: Last ( capital "L", small "ast") or "returned" - all small
letters. You will end up with with a large list of filters, but don't
worry about that.

With OE, You can either have the SWEN mails download straight to your
DELETE folder, or prevent them from downloading. I recommend the former
solution, as when you exit OE, the whole of your delete folder empties, and
your Mail Server is also cleared. If you have not already done so, go to
<Tools/Options/Maintenance>. Then tick option<Empty/Delete folder on exit>.

Next go to <Tools/Message Rules/Mail Rules/New. Under 'Conditions', tick
"Where the subject line contains specific words" Click this link, then ADD
for each of the following:- 'patch', 'security', 'fail', 'mail',
'deliver', 'upgrade', 'update' (not including quotes), as alternative words,
ie. when you click OK,
you should see an 'OR' between each word now.

Next, under 'Conditions', tick option <Where the message size is more than>.
Insert 100KB. This could be a lower figure such as 75KB. You should see an
'AND' between condition 1 & 2. Finally, under 'Actions', select <Delete from
Server>, and <Stop processing more rules>. At the bottom, name the rule
'SubSwen'. Click OK, until the 'Rule' is closed. All Swen messages should
now download straight into your 'Delete' folder.
