Looking for advise: My Dell DVD Burner will only use DVD+RW discs. My Panasonic DVD Player will only read DVD-R. Do I have any alternatives to handle this issue. I get no where with Dell and Panasonic. I can read the disc on my computer but I want to view it on my TV screen. Help !!!!

Being that you can buy a good DVD player for $70 to $80 now, you can
do what I am going to do with the same situation and just buy a new
player for the TV. I am looking at the Philips DVD 727. Gets good
ratings. $70.84 on Amazon right now.

From what I recall, the only DVD burner that was exclusively DVD+RW was
the infamous HP DVD100i. All other DVD+ drives will be able to burn a +R
disk. Chances are better that a +R will play in your standalone. Check
out dvdrhelp.com for more information on your burner and player
capabilities.

When you do shop for a new DVD player, try to get one which is able to play
most formats.

At the time I made my purchase, I opted for the SONY DVP-NS325 because it
supported most formats. That was 1 year ago and I'm sure other brands /
models have improved. This SONY supports the following:

DVD-RW/-R, DVD+RW/+R, CD-R/RW & MP3

I just got my Pioneer DVR-310S today and was pleasantly surprised that
it plays all of my DVD+R disks created on my Dell's NEC DVD +RW ROM
drive. I guess I won't need that Philips DVD 727 after all. I am a
VERY happy camper at this point.
