Hi,
Sorry for bit delayed response. The laptop belongs to my Employer, but we
have a policy where they allow us to use broadband from home. Apparently the
group policy settings are not causing any problems for my other coleagues who
use their laptops successfully from home using the same setup. To test this,
I connected my normal desktop to the ADSL modem and successfully could browse
the web. But when I connect my laptop (windows xp professional with sp2), it
successfully get an IP from the DHCP server, but I am not able to connect to
web.
I enabled the proxy setting in IE to auto discovery and unchecked all. My
windows firewall buttons are all disabled. To test this, further, I
disconnected my laptop from my domain and started it as a workgroup. Even
then, I am facing with same problem. When I disconnect my laptop from the
domain, even then my Windows Firewall settings are grayed and says that it is
controlled through group policy. Am I missing something here?
To test further, I did MSN network troubleshoot tests. Everything is fine,
except it says some key ports are failed. Does this give any hints?
I ran a windows registry cleaner (CCleaner) to see if there are any registry
settings that is causing this, but without any success.
Any help on this is highly appreciated as this is bugging me for about 3
weeks by now.
