Just to let you know the issue with sp2
and not being picked up by the security center
is solved.

If you have Norton anti virus just run live update and few times
and you are notified that you have norton anti virus
enabled.

Which version?

Yes, that's right, it seems the WMI update is out for NAV 2004 only,
not NAV 2003. I have not heard anyone saying that an update was
applied to their NAV 2002, either success or failure.

Nav 2003 & earlier versions will work with Service Pack 2.

However, Symantec has stated that Pre-2004 versions can't
handle the WMI (Windows Monitoring Instrumentation) patch
due to those products having Tampering protection. Apparently,
the reporting mechanism doesn't hook into those versions. I've
read postings that a "Fix" for earlier versions is promised - but I
doubt it. September is rollout month for Symantec's 2005 line.

This works for Norton AntiVirus 2003!
http://www.neowin.net/staff/RadishTM/Norton_WMI_Update.rar

I have applied it to a number of systems now and the Security Console shown
that Norton Antivirus is active and current! (-:

Note: the above link will take you directly to the download! When you
extract the files, execute SYMWMI04.msi.

The WMI patch for NAV 2004 works just fine for NAV 2003. There is no
difference between the two and the way NAV uses anti tamper. Many of
us have downloaded and installed the WMI patch and are using it with
success with NAV 2003. I've installed it on three machine with NAV
2003. Symantec is just handing out more of their BS and poor customer
support. And, yes you're probably correct - they want everyone to
upgrade to a newer version.

I have NAV 2002, and I am getting the same message stating that the status of
my Norton is unknown. I ran Live Update several times, and the message
persists.

Security center will only tell you the state of AV programs that send it
a message 'All Present and Correct'. As yet Norton have updated 2004 to
do this, are undecided on 2003, and declare that they will not do it for
2002
