Nokia PC Sync fails, replies "Failed to initialize Microsoft Outlo

When I use Nokia PC Sync to synchronize contacts between Microsoft Outlook
and my cell phone, the sync fails quickly and the PC Sync log shows, "Failed
to initialize Microsoft Outlook". I tried upgrading to Outlook 97 and
upgrading PC Sync, but to no avail. Any actions that attempt to access
Outlook from the Nokia PC Suite fail, including attempting to browse Outlook
folders from the PC Sync - Settings windows.

The problem is not the data connection to the phone (Bluetooth) as PC Suite
is able to browse directories in the phone's memory.

Any suggestions?

DL, thanks for the reply.

I'm using Outlook 2007 and Windows XP. "PC Sync" is one of the components
of Nokia's PC Suite. All the other components of PC Suite are working well.

So why the refernce to "I tried upgrading to Outlook 97 "
Nokia has its own support forums

It appears that the problem is somewhere between Outlook and PC Sync. Either
PC Sync doesn't know how to get into the Outlook data, or Outlook is
preventing access to its data. There was one suggestion to try repairing the
Outlook installation, but it was easier to upgrade to Outlook 2007. I've
also done the obvious steps, such as re-installing PC Suite. So far, there
have been no solutions on the Nokia forum, and no solutions here. So I keep
trying ....
